Figgins asks the glee kids to perform at McKinley’s prom (over the objections of prom coordinator Sue). Meanwhile, the competitions for prom king and queen heat up.
Sue takes control of the formerly dormant school newspaper and prints incendiary stories. Meanwhile, April (Kristin Chenoweth) returns and tries to persuade Will to take off with her; and surprising details about Sam’s home life are exposed, gaining him admiration from his classmates.
While Will uses Lady Gaga’s music for a lesson about self-acceptance, Lauren and Quinn duke it out to be prom queen, Emma faces her obsessions, Rachel struggles over a decision and Santana has something in mind that could alter the Glee-club dynamic dramatically. New Directions’ performances include Lady Gaga’s “Born This Way.”
A Night of Neglect – Proving that birds of a feather flock together, when another under-the-radar club at McKinley High needs helps raising funds, the glee club signs up to help. But when Sue hears about the show of support, she moves quickly to put the kibosh on it. Meanwhile, relationships are tested and big decisions will be made.
The Glee kids face stiff competition from the Warblers and Aural Intensity (coached by Sue) at the Regionals, so to impress judges Tammy Jean Albertson (Kathy Griffin) and Sister Mary Constance (Loretta Devine), they decide to perform original material. Meanwhile, Quinn wants to win Finn back to regain her standing at McKinley High.
Substitute Holly Holliday (Gwyneth Paltrow) fills in for the sex-ed teacher and joins forces with Will to teach the glee kids the facts of life. Meanwhile, Emma heads the Celibacy Club, leading her and Dr. Carl (John Stamos) to address personal issues. Holly performs Prince’s “Kiss” (with Will), Joan Jett’s “Do You Want to Touch Me (Oh Yeah)” (with New Directions) and Stevie Nicks’ “Landslide” (with Santana and Brittany).
Figgins teaches the McKinley students about the dangers of underage drinking, and the glee kids are touched by his message. Meanwhile, Mr. Schuester and Coach Beiste have fun together.
Rachel tries to get back into McKinley High’s social swing, with the help of Brittany; and Sam forms a tribute band. Meanwhile, Sue is suffering from depression following the Cheerios’ rare loss. Music includes Justin Bieber’s “Baby.”
Love is in the air at McKinley High when the Glee club sets up a kissing booth for Valentine’s Day. Things don’t go as planned, however, and hearts end up getting broken.
While Mr. Schuester and Coach Beiste work to make peace between the glee club and football team, Sue devises a risky strategy to win the cheerleading Nationals. Katie Couric appears as herself. New Directions perform Michael Jackson’s “Thriller,” and the Cheerios do Katy Perry’s “California Gurls.”
